Collegium Novum Zürich

Follow organizer

Founded in 1993, the Collegium Novum Zürich aims to promote and perform contemporary music. At the same time, contemporary music is placed in context with the music of past eras. An important part of the artistic work is the direct contact with the composers as well as the exchange with cooperation partners. Thanks to its mobile structure, the 24-member soloist ensemble can flexibly draw on any instrumentation from solo to large ensemble. This means that the programming can be geared entirely to content-related criteria. The members also appear as soloists with the ensemble and, in addition to their activities with the Collegium Novum Zurich, take on leading roles in Swiss cultural life. The Collegium Novum Zürich, which is subsidised by the City of Zurich, has for years maintained its own concert series in Zurich, in which ensemble projects are regularly realised at various concert venues in the city. Other concert series specifically seek the cross-disciplinary networking of the arts as well as meaningful connections between musical programme and concert venue.
