turbine theater

The turbine theatre is a small theatre partly subsidised by the canton of Zurich and the municipality of Langnau am Albis. The turbine theatre is located in the former turbine room of the Langnau am Albis spinning mill. The programme includes two co-productions each year with the Kaiserbühne and Theater Affix and a summer open-air performance in partnership with the "Stiftung Wildnispark Zürich" at the visitor centre in Sihlwald (turbine theatre Sihlwald / this also includes the "Theater im Märliwald" for children), other turbine events and a colourful range of guest performances from the independent cabaret and theatre scene. It is also a regular venue for the "Langnau Theatre Group". The approximately 100 events per year are divided in half between in-house and co-productions, and in half between guest performances, in-house events and rented events. The capacity of the turbine theatre is between 76 and 104 seats, depending on the seating plan. The grandstand for the open-air performance in Sihlwald has 225 seats. In total, the turbine theatre attracts around 8,000 spectators per year. The turbine theatre also has an attractive rental offer for private individuals, clubs and artist groups.
