MIRCO’S SEARCH FOR THE SHADOW

It is well known that children are often afraid of the dark. Mirco, however, is even afraid of his own shadow. This sets off a playful journey through various rooms, in which Mirco encounters all sorts of things. The shadow – his dark counterpart – seems to be playing tricks on him. It can be found everywhere and nowhere, and keeps appearing in different guises. Is it him – or is it someone else? What can it do that Mirco cannot? The shadow is a jack-of-all-trades, a charming magician. Mirco would also like to have such a wide range of possibilities; he’d like to benefit from the tricks the shadow can perform. And so, unexpectedly, they become best friends..

For years, Hansueli Trüb has been working with the Theater-Pack, utilising the techniques of contemporary shadow theatre. He is one of the few in Switzerland who practises this form of performance: a wide variety of light sources are moved and used in many different ways, whilst various mobile surfaces made of different materials serve as projection screens. His results border on the world of illusion, of enchanting paradoxes!
