Medical wax models: patient records in medical education

Wax moulages – replicas of diseased body surfaces produced from moulds – have been used in research as realistic records of historical patients. At the same time, they have been and continue to be used as models in medical training. This guided tour explores the special significance of these remarkable wax replicas, using various patient examples within a medical and medical-historical context.

As part of the programme accompanying the exhibition ‘Models – Shaping Knowledge’ at extract, this tour takes visitors to a place where scientific models are still used today in research and teaching.
