The ETH Skills Lab: An insight into modern medical training
What does modern medical training at ETH Zurich look like? A look inside the Skills Lab offers fascinating insights. This is where medical students practise their practical skills – from ultrasound to inserting a venous access. At the same time, new technology is playing an increasingly important role: digital learning formats, simulations and artificial intelligence complement traditional learning methods. The Skills Lab brings all this to life. Alongside brief insights into the degree programme and the concept of peer tutoring, the main focus is on hands-on practice. Visitors can get hands-on and try out various stations. Particular focus is placed on innovative approaches such as AI-supported avatars for patient consultations or VR simulations that allow clinical situations to be experienced in a realistic way. An opportunity to get a first-hand look at medical education at the intersection of practice, technology and the future.
As part of the supporting programme for the exhibition ‘Models – Shaping Knowledge’ at extract, this visit takes you to a place where scientific models are still used in research and teaching today.
