FRI3SER – Album-Release-Show

The new trio FRI3SER, led by Winterthur-based pianist and composer Lucca Fries, creates music with physical power and raw emotion. Dark, drone-like piano textures, heavy drumbeats and distorted bass riffs build up over long stretches of tension and, over time, develop a hypnotic pull.

The project arose from Fries’ long-standing desire to combine his piano playing with alternative rock and metal, genres he has loved since his youth. It took years before a clear sonic vision suddenly emerged in his mind of how his rhythmic soundscapes could merge with hard beats and powerful bass riffs to create urgent, atmospheric music. Elements from club music, such as morphing beats and tension-filled breaks, lend the compositions an additional electronic energy. At the Theater am Gleis, FRI3SER will present their eponymous debut album, produced by Grammy-winning New York producer John Davis.

Lucca Fries made a name for himself internationally with his bands Hely and Ikarus. He has played at festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Burghausen International Jazz Week and the Reykjavík Jazz Festival, and has toured in India, Japan, Russia and South Africa, as well as throughout Europe.
