Sihlfeld Cemetery Audio Walk
An audio walk beyond expectations
There are many stories circulating about the Sihlfeld. One of the best is the cemetery itself. Let a voice guide you to places where eternity lasts but a few years; follow it to corners that harbour a secret. On this highly personal guided tour, you will discover the obscure and the strange, the poetic and the forgotten. Sounds and associations rise to the surface. Is the past standing before me? Am I walking through a dream world?
The audio walk is a play on our perception and our relationship with life, death and memory. An acoustic experience in one of Zurich’s most special places. (Duration approx. 55 minutes)
Concept / Idea: Meret Tobler, Katja Wolf and Markus Rottmann. Texts: Markus Rottmann. Direction: Chris Niemeyer. Sound design: Peter Bräker. Dramaturgy: Markus Rottmann, Chris Niemeyer. Voices: Dagna Litzenberger Vinet with Samuel Streiff, Suly Röthlisberger and Verena Speck. Music: Hansueli Tischhauser. Production: City of Zurich, Tomb and Cemetery Culture and Cemetery Forum.
