«A Heartbeat Between two Worlds» Liederabend
with Linsey Coppens & Hans Adolfsen
A story of hope, remembrance and the unbreakable power of love, featuring works by Debussy, Finzi, Schubert, Mahler and many more.
What becomes of love when war tears everything apart?
‘A Heartbeat Between Two Worlds’ is a moving song cycle about love that blossoms in the shadow of war. Two people are torn apart, with no certainty that they will ever see each other again. Through letters and melodies, they grapple with fear, longing and the transience of the moment. What remains when questions go unanswered? And can love overcome time and death?
An intense musical journey full of longing, hope and the echo of unspoken words. Poems by Wisława Szymborska, Théophile Gautier and W.H. Auden meet music spanning two centuries: from Schubert, Mahler, Grieg, Ravel and Chaminade, to Finzi and Adolfsen.
