Anthony Hüseyin
Anthony Hüseyin is an ever-changing, fluid, non-binary person and artist. Born in conservative Urfa and raised in Istanbul, Huseyin gave up his Turkish passport to avoid joining the army and instead did a master's degree in jazz singing in the Netherlands. After the outbreak of the Gezi protests in 2013, Anthony Hüseyin musically confronted the prevailing social and political injustices within Turkey for the first time. The songs combine house, techno and nu-disco with Türk Sanat Müzigi (Turkish Art Music), sometimes melancholic, sometimes jazzy. In them, Anthony Hüseyin pays homage to the great pop star Zeki Müren, who lived openly queer and tells of his artistic and personal search as a queer person.
