Málaga Street

Maria Angeles, a 79-year-old Spanish woman, lives alone in Tangier in northern Morocco and enjoys her daily life in the city. Her life is turned upside down when her daughter Clara arrives from Madrid to sell the flat where Maria has always lived. Determined to stay in the city of her childhood, Maria does everything she can to save her home and her belongings – and in the process, quite unexpectedly, discovers new love and sensuality. ‘Calle Málaga’ celebrated its world premiere at the 2025 Venice Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award. Maryam Touzani’s third feature film (following *Adam* and *Le bleu du caftan*) is also her first in Spanish: a Moroccan-European cinematic gem, in which the Spanish film star Carmen Maura (*Volver*) gives an enchanting performance in the lead role.
