Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek

Five countries, one band – between Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy and Turkey Derya Yildirim & Grup Şimşek spin intoxicating Turkish pop music. Since their first joint performance within the context of the the New Hamburg Festival in 2014, the quintet wanders together on the trail of the Anatolian folk icons such as Selda Bağcan, Barış Manço and Özdemir Erdoğan and lends the Tukish heritage its very own laid-back, psychedlic complexion. Yildirim's enchanting singing, their Saz playing and the instrumentation of the Grup Şimşek – inspired by Jazz, Funk and Pop – they understand themselves not only as interpreters of elaborate compositions, rather as the art of improvisation. You really should get to experience this «live».
