Hortus conclusus – in the garden of senses

„Weiertal“ is a lively place of artistic reflection, embedded in the middle of a local recreation area between hills and forests near the city of Winterthur. The cultural venue has been a place of exchange and lingering for over 20 years, enabling a sensual experience of nature and art. The Weiertal garden with old trees and fruit groves, ponds and streams shows a great diversity of species. In the summer of 2024, newly developed artistic works relating to the location can be seen here, in which landscape and art are combined. Gardens can be havens of wishes and hopes. The focus is on the social debate about a future worth living. Artistic works that appeal to different senses, interactive works, participatory, haptic and kinetic works create an immediacy. Experienceable works of art can generate emotions and captivate the recipient and should lead to an examination of the topics of biodiversity, nature and artificiality, resources, change and renewal.
