Intimate Revolution
An audiovisual experience exploring desire and sexuality
How can we talk about sex?
Although sex is omnipresent in the media, open conversations about how we desire one another and what we experience emotionally during sex are rare. Almost everyone lacks the vocabulary to describe what is going on inside them when they have sex. In their first joint long-term project, INTIME REVOLUTION, Anna Papst and Mats Staub set out to find people who are nevertheless trying to do just that. They have all had to, or chosen to, relearn sexuality consciously at some point in their lives. Their moving and profound stories are condensed and, in some cases, presented with new voice-overs.
At the Bistro Alte Kaserne, which has been transformed into an audio library, the audience can expect a collective yet intimate listening experience. Visitors are served drinks and headphones. Everyone can put together their own ‘multi-course’ auditory menu from a variety of voices and narratives, according to their own taste: would you rather listen to the pensioner who didn’t enjoy sex during her 25 years of marriage and now lives a ‘properly debauched’ life? Or the young gay man who, after years of casual sex, asks himself: How do I actually want to be touched?
INTIME REVOLUTION will run for a period of six months – a first for the Kellertheater’s programme.
