Jane Mumford
LIFE!
Coming of Age | sharp-witted | British humour
‘Never 16 again!’ As a child, the world was magical, but puberty marked the start of a struggle for survival. Jane Mumford, winner of the 2025 Swiss Comedy Award, delves deep into her past in her second solo show. What we get is a zany reckoning with herself, tap dancing and gothic rock.
Wouldn’t we all love to be sixteen again? Jane Mumford says: “Not in a million years!”: having to be cool, fitting in, finding true love … and then, at some point, having to achieve something before life is over. As a “cynical, pale, unmotivated goth”, she relives her teenage years in a furious solo show on stage. With sharp wit and British charm, the 36-year-old Swiss-British cabaret artist, comedian and musician talks about the insecurities that stay with us long after our youth – from the desperate attempt to keep everything under control, even though we’ve already got our hands full. A hilariously funny evening about the chaos of growing up. “Hilarious, friendly British and, as a solo-performing writer, unique in this country,” as Viktor Giacobbo describes it.
