Videoex Festival 2024: Artist Focus: Trinh T. Minh-ha

Trinh T. Minh-ha is an artist, filmmaker and theorist. Her poetic-political films deal with borderline events of all kinds and at the same time explore the boundaries of artistic reflection. In doing so, she actively questions traditional forms of knowledge and categorisation. Born in Hanoi and living in the USA since the 1970s, she has had a decisive influence on feminist and post-colonial film and art production over the last 40 years. Based on her own position as an insider/outsider between Vietnam and the USA, Trinh's works create a view of the world that is based on a plurality of meanings and perspectives. The experimental arrangements of image and sound establish polyvocal, complex, sometimes playful narratives in a dense network of stories, voices, spaces and sounds.
