The Ukrainian-Swiss collective shows a coming-of-age film that paints the portrait of a young generation in the Donnbas. Afterwards, there will be space for exchange and questions about the current situation in Ukraine and the living environment in the diaspora.
Pitch:
Bombardments and gun salvos have been as commonplace as the desire for a better life for the Ukrainian youths in the Donbass who have grown up among ruins, minefields, shelters and mines since 2014. For Andriy, Illia, Lera, Liza and Ruslan, this dream is briefly fulfilled with an expedition to the Himalayas, before the Russian attack on the entire Ukraine shatters all hopes in February 2022. With a sensitive, unobtrusively observant camera, the film paints a moving portrait of a generation that is able to recognise and celebrate the fragile beauty of life despite, or perhaps because of, the darkness that surrounds it.
