Dance tips in March

In March, the Migros Culture Percentage Dance Festival Steps transforms Switzerland into a lively stage for contemporary dance. Here you will find performances that you should not miss under any circumstances.

Blind date on stage

What happens when two artists who don't know each other meet? Joy Alpuerto Ritter and Hannes Langolf explore this question in The Fall / Risings. The play The Fall was created in 2024 as an experiment in artistic blind dating. Together with Swiss guest artist Sarafina Beck, the artists are now staging the outdoor play and exploring the tension between chaos and order. Let yourself be surprised by the intense interplay of touch, fragility and the potential of human encounter.

rush of movement

In Le Grand Bal, classical ballet merges with street dance styles such as hip-hop and breakdance to create a collective ceremony of liberation. The Compagnie Dyptik from France invites the audience to an intoxicating experience in which dance fever and ecstasy spread beyond the stage. Let the trance of the dancers wash over you.

Overcoming boundaries through play

The Belgian ensemble Circumstances transforms the stage into an unstable playing field of ladders on which the performers dance, climb and balance. Beyond by choreographer Piet Van Dycke thus addresses an important theme: how can bridges be built and boundaries thereby be broken down? The piece is suitable for everyone aged six and above.

Age(ing) in dance

Junk Ensemble presents Dances Like a Bomb, a profound duet about ageing, relationships, love and care. With humour and tenderness, the performers – Finola Cronin and Luc Dunberry, two celebrated stars of the dance scene – question common notions of physical decline and celebrate the power of ageing bodies in a way that is both touching and comical. 18 March 2026, 8 p.m., Gessnerallee
