Dance tips in May

Von Kairo bis Zürich, von einem etwas anderen Romeo und von der Auseinandersetzung mit der eigenen Biografie: Tipps in Sachen Tanz für den Mai.

A very different Romeo

The name of the play The Romeo suggests Shakespeare's young lovers. But in Trajal Harrell's work, it is not another adaptation of the literary classic, but a dance. One that would be known all over the world, danced by people of all origins, genders and generations, although its origins are unclear. Harrell brings Romeo to Zurich, where your story of Romeo begins.

A piece of hope for the future

How do young people deal with fundamental changes in their lives? This is what seven dancers from Cie. Wild Life show in their piece Flirren (to flirt and err). They have to find their way in their new situations, recompose themselves and meet each other anew. In the dance piece, dance, text and sound merge into a shimmering rave that addresses independence, belonging, togetherness and collective freedom. A lively piece to breathe a sigh of relief, recommended for everyone aged 14 and over. And for those who can't be there live or prefer to watch from home, there will be a livestream on 14 May.

Dancing biography

What does the confrontation of a dancer, choreographer and artist with her biography look like? In her new solo project Notebook, Alexandra Bachzetsis deals with traces and remnants of her life and brings them into a dialogical form. Bachzetsis develops a performative installation in which the body functions as a permanent site of mediation between past and present, event and documentation, originality and citativeness. Go there and let Notebook become a part of your biography.
