Everything is political!

Projection on the fight for women's rights, political rap and discussions on energy and film politics - events that illuminate the political.

Immersion in the struggle for women's rights

A multimedia exhibition at the National Museum in Zurich impressively shows the great achievements women had to make on the way to their political rights. For a long time, women in Switzerland remained excluded from civil and political rights. More than 350 historical images were used in the multilingual projection by the association Hommage 2021. The project was created to mark the 50th anniversary of the historic vote on women's suffrage. The struggle for women's rights since the 19th century has been tough, the path to political participation rocky. The women's right to vote and to be elected, introduced in 1971, was a decisive step in the struggle for the implementation of legal equality.

Political rap in Bärndütsch

Tommy Vercetti and Dezmond Dez have been shaping the Swiss music scene for years with their socially critical, political and introspective rap. At EXIL, the Bernese present their latest works live in Zurich for the first time. Both have released new albums: Tommy Vercetti with "Sympathy for Hyena", Dezmond Dez with his second solo album "Film Noir". The two, who have been friends since their youth and have also realised several joint projects, are lyrically among the best that Switzerland has to offer. In their works, they address social injustices, (self-experienced) racism and leader figures like Trump.

Fast bleaching in film politics

The event at Filmpodium, the City of Zurich's art house cinema, is about cultural policy in the narrower sense. A brief overview of Swiss film policy will be offered. In addition, it will be clarified what the various industry associations, such as Cinésuisse, are doing for film. Monica Stadler, managing director of the GSFA (Groupement Suisse du Film d'Animation), will speak on these topics.

Energy policy dynamics: Opportunity or danger?

Solar offensive, Windexpress and hydropower reserve, oil and gas-fired power plants in Birr and Cornaux and a broad-based energy-saving campaign by the federal government: These were the Swiss responses to the European gas and electricity shortages and the numerous outages in French nuclear power plants. Experts from politics, science and society, such as energy policy expert Léonore Hälg and political geographer Michael Hermann, discuss in the Kulturpark what lessons should be learned for the future.
