Live music in September

The summer break was worth it: we can once again run full of energy to the concert venues of our choice, because they are filled to the brim with great music in September.

Crack Cloud

Canada is the Mecca of music collectives. Here, people prefer to be part of various large musical groups rather than toiling away in a fixed small band. Crack Cloud are no exception. The members of this multimedia collective project got to know each other as part of addiction treatment and mental health programmes, both as participants and helpers. The group members have since added synthesiser bombast to the jagged, choppy post-punk guitars of their early days, but their drive remains unbroken.

The Kings of Dubrock

The more the world around us turns towards the crazy, the happier I am about the musical craziness of Jacques Palminger and his consort Rica Blunck and Victor Marek. What the Kings of Dubrock do can be understood as a disguised meta-discourse commentary on everything out there. But you can also leave it alone and dance to it.

Elisabeth Klinck & Simeon Sigg

The Belgian Elisabeth Klinck combines her violin with field recordings to create atmospheric, ghostly music and has already performed a theatre project at the Zürcher Theaterspektakel 2023. There is less to find out about Zurich-based Simeon Sigg. "His works are fuelled by an exploration of the specifics of architectural spaces, the fundamentals of audiovisual perception and ecological and more-than-human contexts, among other things," says the event website. So it's sure to be spherically experimental, and that's a good thing.

Earl Sweatshirt

The organisers have secured a very special headliner for this year's Radar Club Festival. Earl Sweatshirt, the rap prodigy of the early 2010s and member of the Odd Future crew, is coming to the Plaza. He will be bringing his new album "Voir Dire" with him, which he released together with producer legend The Alchemist.

Big | Brave

The Canadian trio Big | Brave also deliver noise, but in a more classic line-up: drums, bass, walls of guitars. Plus those dynamics between contemplation and outburst that are so characteristic of post-rock, and which this band masters particularly well. Autumn can come.

Quiet and "butterfly-music-tastic"

A visit to Rigo and Rosa: in a leopard’s enclosure, courage, music and a mouse come together – and from almost nothing, poetry for a whole lifetime is born.
